About 4 Little Paws

Hello and thank you for visiting my website!  I’m Lauren, the founder of 4 Little Paws.  Back in 2009, I initially ran the service as an online pet supplies shop around a full time job.  But in 2011 I had the opportunity to take voluntary redundancy from my job as a manager for Sheffield City Council.  So I seized the chance to follow my dream to work with animals by starting an FdSc Animal Science course with Nottingham Trent University.  This enabled me to launch my pet care business in February 2012; specialising in rabbits and small pets.

Since then the business has gone from strength to strength and, after relocating to Chesterfield from Rotherham, gave me the space to expand our capacity to 7 rabbit cabins and 4 outdoor houses for guinea pigs.

Over the past twenty years I’ve volunteered for several animal charities, including The Sheffield Cats Shelter, RSPCA Sheffield, and Barnsley Animal Rescue Centre.  So you can be assured that, as well as my qualifications, I have plenty of practical experience in caring for animals.

My qualifications include:

  • HNC in Business and Management (Sheffield College)
  • Certificate in Animal First Aid (Rotherham College)
  • FdSc Animal Science at Nottingham Trent University, where I received a First, as well as the 'Cantrol Award for Applied Animal Science': for the highest grade in the course.

I’m particularly passionate about rabbit welfare and chose to specialise in them during my degree course, and constantly keep up to date with the latest research and news about their care.

I provide seven 10ft x 4ft rabbit cabins for my boarding service.  The cabins allow a large amount of space for the animals to safely play in 24/7, as opposed to the more traditional set up of a hutch and separate run. The guinea pigs have a choice of a 6ft x 2ft hutch or 4ft x 3ft playhouse.

I believe 4 Little Paws offers the largest rabbit and guinea pig boarding accommodation in the region.

I have 9 bunnies and 3 cats of my own, and treat each boarding guest as if they were my own.  TLC comes as standard; and I will send texts and updates whilst you are away so you know your little friend/s are enjoying their own holiday.
